Short Bio
Nicole Youngman did her undergraduate work at Tulane University, graduating with a B.A. in French in 1990. She went on to pursue an M.A. in Women's Studies at the University of Alabama and an M.A. in sociology at the University of South Alabama. She returned to Tulane to pursue her Ph.D. in sociology, specializing in environmental sociology and the sociology of disaster. She has taught at the University of Alabama, the University of West Florida, and Tulane, and joined the Loyola Department of Sociology in 2007.
Ms. Youngman is currently researching the history of the relationships between hurricane-related flooding and urban development in
New Orleans.
