Right at the center of department life, and the department's bridge to the Institute of Politics, is Gayle Mumfrey, our Administrative Assistant. Having raised three sons who are all grown, Gayle envisions herself mom and mentor to our political science majors as well as to the IOP's yearly class of budding politicos. When she is not involved with things political, she can be found working in her garden, traveling, playing with her Red Hat pals, or visiting nursing homes. Gayle is a volunteer team member of Beginning Experiences, a church outreach that ministers to those who have lost a spouse to death, separation, or divorce. She is very excited about becoming a first time grandmother this fall.
