Student Successes

 

  • Katherine Wardlaw, RN-BSN student, was elected to the position of Coordinator of the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).  In this role Katherine has attended leadership conferences and has had the opportunity to participate in lobbying activities with Louisiana state house  representatives.  She also played an active role in planning and implementing the 2007 AWHONN Louisiana State Conference. 

  • Arlisha Pratt, MSN HCSM, was selected as one of The Great 100 Nurses of 2007.
  • Robin Rome, MSN ANP, was selected as  one of  The Great 100 Nurses of 2007.
  • Melanie Toups, MSN FNP, was selected as one of  The Great 100 Nurses of 2007.
  • Dior Reith Cabrera, BSN Nursing degree program, received the Outstanding Student Award for the Bachelors of Science Nursing program during City College's 2004-2005 Award Ceremony.
  • Lisa Golden, MSN NP degree program, received the Outstanding Student Award for the Bachelors of Science Nursing NP program during City College's 2004-2005 Award Ceremony.
  • Mary C Meyaski-Schulter, MSN degree program, was recognized in Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges during City College's 2004-2005 Award Ceremony.
  • Joan F. Rooney, MSN degree program, was recognized in Who's Who Among American Universities and Colleges, and received the Outstanding Student Award for the MSN Health Care Systems Management program during City College's 2004-2005 Award Ceremony.
  • Stacie Solis Simonton, May 2004 MSN HCSM graduate hired as a diabetic educator at Children's Hospital in New Orleans, LA
  • Gina Herrera, May 1995 BSN graduate elected to the faculty at Charity-Delgado School of Nursing, New Orleans, LA.
  • Mark Drummond, NP-C Fall 2006 graduate successfully passed the Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination with a score that placed him in the 4% percentile of all applicant who complete the examine in the United States.   Mark is currently in collaborative physician-practitioner private practice in Baton Rouge Louisiana. 

  • Janell Escude, FNP-C Spring 2007 Nurse Practitioner Graduate Family Nurse Practitioner Track has recently completed the Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) program making her one of three Nurses to hold this title in the state of Louisiana.

    Janell is currently in collaborative practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Neurological Surgery with the Southern Brian and Spine (SBS) Medicine Group and hold admitting privileges at Ochsner Foundation Hospital.  

  • Yolanda Cockerham, Senior FNP (Spring 08) student has been selected to be a presenter at the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA)   Conference in Chicago Illinois.  The title of her presentation is: “Nursing practice: Instituting Intralesional Injection Therapy in the Primary Care Setting”.  The participation at the conference also includes a poster presentation.

  • Catherine Peirsol-Schipper, (Spring 08) senior Family Nurse Practitioner student is the recipient of the Louisiana Association Nurse Practitioner Nurse Practitioner Student Scholarship Award for 2007.
