Public Relations Awards
Loyola public relations students placed in the top ten of this year’s Bateman Competition, receiving an honorable mention for their public relations campaign to raise awareness of family caregiver issues across the Greater New Orleans area. The Bateman Competition is a national contest among universities to promote non-profits. This year’s campaign was titled “Family Caregiving... Its not all up to you.” The students were asked to promote the campaign and its Web site www.familycaregiving101.org.
Bateman Team named best in the nation for public relations campaign
The Loyola University 2008 PRSSA Bateman Team received first place in the National PRSSA Bateman Case Study Competition for its public relations campaign promoting Safe Kids Worldwide, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing unintentional childhood injury.
The Loyola Bateman Team was one of three teams to present its winning public relations campaign at the the national Bateman Competition in Detroit, Mich., May 1-4. Team members presented their campaign to executives of General Motors and Safe Kids Worldwide. The other two finalists were California State University at Long Beach and Texas Christian University.
The PRSSA Bateman Competition is a national contest among universities to promote selected clients. This year's campaign, "Safe Kids Buckle Up," asked students to address the issue of seat belt usage among youth, ages 11 to 14.
Loyola's 2008 Bateman Team includes Shannon Corrigan, Daniel Mazier, Andrea Mulcrone, Kelly Rayner and Kelly Roth. This is the fifth year that Loyola placed first in the competition. Loyola also placed first in 2005, 2003, 2000, and 1997.
Bateman Team receives Award of Merit from PRSA New Orleans
Loyola's 2007 Bateman Team was recently honored with an Award of Merit in the external relations non-profit category at the annual awards banquet of the New Orleans chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. The banquet was held Nov. 14.

Bateman Team Garners Honorable Mention
Loyola University New Orleans has competed in the Bateman Competition for the last 13 years. Since 2000, Loyola teams have placed in the top three schools in the competition. This year, the top three finalists were California State University at Fullerton, Elon University and University of Georgia.
The National Family Caregivers Association and the National Alliance for Caregiving sponsored the campaign along with the Bateman Competition sponsor, the Public Relations Student Society of America.
Public Relations Students Presented Silver Anvil Awards
Members of Loyola’s 2005 and 2006 Bateman teams were honored for work on recent public relations campaigns at an awards banquet in November.
The Public Relations Society of America’s New Orleans chapter presented the students from the two teams with Silver Anvil awards, which honor highest standards of performance in the public relations profession. The students competed against professionals in the business for the awards.
The 2006 team was honored for its work on “Get Back In The Habit,” a public relations campaign for the New Orleans affiliate of Habitat for Humanity. Team members included: Katie Eisenhart, Courtney Fisher, Christina Blanco, Alexis Lalor and Kerri Driscoll.
The 2005 Bateman Team was honored for “Check Out My Ethics,” a campaign to raise awareness about ethical academic behavior. The 2005 team was honored retroactively because awards were not presented due to Hurricane Katrina. Members of the 2005 team include: Jacqueline Bodet, Andrea Ganier, Cat Haro, Kirby Scelfo and Jessica Venezia.

The 2001 Get a Life campaign, created by five Loyola students, received a perfect score from judges in the Great Idea category, which was comprised of campaigns conducted on a budget of less than $2000. Of the 42 entries in the five public relations campaigns categories, only three scored a perfect 100 percent.
