About Us
PRSSA is an organization for students interested in the field of public relations. The organization promotes involvement in a student's undergraduate career by providing members with internship opportunities, access to local professionals and the chance to participate in public relations on a national level. Major services include professional development programs, career networking, scholarship competitions, access to PRSA-New Orleans Job Bank, opportunity to network with public relations practitioners and participation in a national case study competition.
PRSSA Bateman Team competes each spring in the premier Public Relations Competition in the country. Five students are carefully selected to create and implement a campaign for a national company. Past sponsors have included Nutella, Contiki Travel, VISA, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. In the past eight years, the Loyola University New Orleans team has placed in the finals every year and won the national championship three times.
Since 1988, the Loyola University New Orleans chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has hosted a national conference, an invitational conference, repeatedly become national Bateman finalists, and continues to foster the development of students that earn prestigious national PRSSA scholarships.
It regularly schedules meetings with public relations professional guest speakers, works closely with the New Orleans chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), and offers a social atmosphere that allows students to build valuable relationships with their peers. PRSSA continues the tradition started on its charter date Nov. 11, 1988.
