Short Bio

Michael Perlstein was a criminal justice reporter for The Times-Picayune for more than 20 years before joining Loyola’s faculty in 2006.  Prof. Perlstein was part of the news team that was awarded Pulitzer Prizes for Public Service and Breaking News Reporting for coverage of Hurricane Katrina.  Prof. Perlstein continues to do freelance reporting, writing articles for The New York Times, Washington Post, New Orleans Magazine and others. He also is involved in a variety of projects, including a book, the official biography of the NBA's New Orleans Hornets and owner George Shinn.
