Journalism Jobs

  • KLAX-TV, the ABC affiliate, in Alexandria, La., located in Central Louisiana, has an opening for a reporter/videographer. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level candidate. We are the only station in Louisiana operating with an out-sourced production and talent company. So, we are dedicated solely to local news gathering, videos, editing and then using fiber-optic to send to our production company. The news is bundled and aired live at six and ten weekdays and at ten on Sundays. We are a small newsroom, so the reporter should be a team player who gets along easily with others. The candidate needs to be familiar with Adobe Premiere Pro and with the use of Sony DV Cam 3CCD. We also require that you have a college degree, and though we prefer it be in communications or journalism, this is not absolutely necessary, if you have some experience with another television station. This is for general assignment reporting, running the gamut from crime to features. Some weekend work is expected, and daytime hours can vary on occasions. The salary is negotiable, depending on experience, and we do offer a health plan plus a company co-sponsored IRA plan. Please send resumes to New Director Babs Zimmerman, 1811 England Dr., Alexandria, La. 71303, or one can e-mail resumes only to bzimmerman@klax-tv.com.
