Short Bio
Catherine P. Zeph, Ed.D. (Cathy) is Assistant Professor of Religion and Education and Faculty Coordinator of Instructional Design at the Loyola Institute for Ministry. An adult educator by training and passion, Cathy has been at Loyola since August 1997, receiving tenure in December 2002. Her twelve-month position is devoted exclusively to the Loyola Institute for Ministry Extension Program (LIMEX), where she trains all facilitators and oversees the group dynamics in our learning groups. In this work, she often travels to teach week-long workshops at our many locations in the United States and abroad. She is also the Instructor of Record for the extension program’s Introduction to Practical Theology and Faith Development and Spirituality courses. She works closely with the LIM staff and faculty regarding the administrative operations of the extension program.
Dr. Zeph received her doctorate in adult education (1989) from The University of Georgia, where she was named their first Kellogg Fellow Doctoral Student, as part of their $8.4M National Center for Leadership Development in Adult and Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning, received from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation. She also received a master’s in education and human development, with a major in adult education (1984) from The George Washington University; a master’s in theological studies (1996) from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley; and a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences (1978) from Drew University. Her professional interests lie in the areas of continuing professional education and the interrelationship between adult development and spirituality. She has published in these areas, presented at national conferences, and served on national association committees.
