Connections with other Jesuit Social Centers and Institutes
The Jesuit Social Research Institute participates in the world-wide network of Jesuit social centers, both independently and through the International Network of Jesuits for Development. In a study of 166 of the reported 350 Jesuit social centers from around the world, the following four characteristics identified primary foci of these social centers:
- Promotion of justice as one of their main goals.
- Focus on the transformation of social structures by means of research, and/or formation, and/or social action.
- Connection to the social ministries of the Society of Jesus; and
- Commitment to an attitude of discernment in the areas of mission and vision, methodology, selection of partners and use of social analysis.
The Jesuit Social Research Institute strives to realize these characteristics, facilitating collaboration with other Jesuit social centers. The institute also collaborates with other non-Jesuit institutes and centers whose mission converges with ours.
