The Criminal Justice Exit Exam and How it Affects You as a CJ Major

As our criminal justice program continues to grow, we constantly seek ways to improve the curriculum. To accomplish this, we need to obtain information from you, our Criminal Justice majors, about your experiences in the program, your views about the quality of the program, and to get some idea about the breadth of information that you have acquired from the criminal justice curriculum. For that reason we require that you complete a Criminal Justice Exit Survey and a Criminal Justice Field Test prior to graduation.

The exit survey will ask you questions about the program as well as your experience at Loyola. The field test is designed to assess mastery of concepts, principles, and knowledge expected of students who have completed a university degree program in criminal justice. Your score on the test will in no way affect your graduation or your grade point average and will not appear on your Loyola transcript. The purpose of the Criminal Justice Field Test is to obtain baseline information from our graduates, which will be used to assess the courses, curriculum, and instruction and to provide direction for possible changes. The test is composed of 150 multiple choice questions and you will be given two hours to answer all questions. Please note that the Criminal Justice Exit Survey and the Field Test are requirements for your graduation and must be completed. Failure to complete the Criminal Justice Field Test prior to graduation will prevent you from receiving your diploma after you complete your program of study at Loyola University New Orleans.

If you have any questions about the Field Test and Exit Survey, please contact Mr. David Aplin, Executive Assistant to the Chairman, at 504-865-3323 or crimjust@loyno.edu. You may also contact Dr. Thornton at 504-865-2134 or thornton@loyno.edu if you would like additional information or further clarification about these requirements.
