Short Bio
Professor Kevin Kwon joined the Loyola University Criminal Justice faculty in the fall of 2007. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1999 from Tulane Law School. Prior to his law degree, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Southern California in Spring of 1993.
Professor Kwon has been serving the citizens of Jefferson Parish from 2004 to the present as an instructor at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Academy, where he is responsible for instructing new recruits in various aspects of constitutional/criminal law, firearms, officer survival, etc. He is also active in the in-service training of existing personnel in areas such as the response to an active shooter. He patrolled the Third District patrol area on the Westbank and was a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team.
From 2000 to 2003, Professor Kwon was an Assistant District Attorney for Orleans Parish. He prosecuted several cases ranging from theft and narcotics offenses to homicides. He was also the Senior Prosecutor in the Narcotics Screening Division, responsible for deciding the disposition of the narcotics cases submitted to the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office. Additionally, Professor Kwon was the ATF Safe Home Task Force Prosecutor as well as the Blighted Housing and Nuisance Abatement Prosecutor.
