Short Bio

Professor Andrew Duffy, J.D., is a native New Orleanian.  He received his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2004.  He is a full-time public defender in Orleans Parish, defending serious felony cases in Criminal District Court.  Prior to law school, Professor Duffy received his B.S. in Psychology from Florida State University.  After graduation, he worked for several years as a crisis counselor and trainer for the Florida HIV/AIDS Hotline and as a mental health associate at a Tallahassee hospital working with acutely psychotic inpatient populations.

As a part-time lecturer with the Criminal Justice Department, Andrew teaches Criminal Law.  His research is grounded in his work as a criminal defense attorney and focuses on substantive Criminal Law, Trial Practice and Procedure and Evidence.

Outside of the courtroom and classroom, he is a serious cook and avid globe trotter; having traveled extensively through Mexico, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
