2008
- Katrina Workman Berger, MCJ - 2006, has been named the Deputy Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Office of Investigations (OI), for New Orleans. As the No. 2 for the New Orleans' Office of Investigations, she will oversee the daily operations of the 16 Resident Agent in Charge OI offices in Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee. ICE is responsible for a wide range of investigations related to national security, smuggling and exporting of illegal arms, financial crimes, commercial fraud, human trafficking, narcotics smuggling, cyber crimes, child pornography/exploitation, and immigration fraud/identity theft.
- Christine McManus, BA 1997, is the Senior Human Resource Compliance Advisor for Countrywide Financial Corporation in Richardson, Texas.
- James W. Stewart, BLS 1995, a former homicide officer from the New Orleans Police Department, is currently working for the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) as the supervisor in the Florida Panhandle. He supervises the three FBI offices in Pensacola, Ft. Walton Beach and Panama City. James was in Washington,DC for three years as a counterterrorism supervisor and also was stationed for five (5) months in Pakistan and detailed to the CIA. After Hurricane Katrina he was on a temporary duty assignment to New Orleans. The Senior Agent-in-Charge of New Orleans assigned six agents to the NOPD so James had a chance to visit the Loyola campus a few times. He hopes to remain in Pensacola for the next couple of years.
- Angela R. Maverick, BA 1991, graduated from the Texas Tech School of Law in May of 1994. She married in October of 1995 and has two sons, Tyler (2005) and Cameron (2001). She works in a small law firm (Andrews Barth & Harrison, PC) in Dallas and practices exclusively in the area of commerical real estate.
- Jennifer Marie Sedgebeer, BCJ 1998, is currently stationed in San Angelo, TX, as a Senior Special Agent for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the largest investigative branch of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). She hopes to be moving to the Dallas area in June 2008.
- Walter Thomas Gorman, BCJ 1997, is employed by the
Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. He is one of three Chief Criminal
Deputies and the Commander of the Criminal Investigations Bureau. He
is involved as well in the recruiting, hiring and training of officers.
His colleagues and he are working on new and innovative ways of addressing
crime in the midst of a population shift. One of his daughters is a
law school Alumni (Loyola Law School, I hope) who works as an ADA at
the Jefferson Parish District Attorney's Office.
