American Criminal Justice Association-Lambda Upsilon Nu Chapter

The members of Lambda Upsilon Nu are part of a national association of Criminal Justice students, alumni, teachers, and professionals devoted to the improvement of criminal justice through education. We are organized in an effort to promote awareness of issues related to criminal justice, provide a unified voice for professionals in the field, and promote high standards of ethical conduct, professional training, and higher education within the criminal justice system. Membership is open to all criminal justice majors, minors, forensic science minors, and faculty members. Lambda Upsilon Nu offers motivated students an opportunity to network with other criminal justice professionals and students across the nation. Loyola University Political Science Students Association (LUPSSA)

Loyola University Sociology Student Organization (LUSSO)

LUSSO is a student organization that works toward improving social justice issues at Loyola and in the New Orleans Community. Although Sociology is the focused major of this organization, students from all majors are welcome to participate. One of LUSSO's goals is to help bridge the gap between sociology in the classroom and sociology in the real world. Students who participate will hopefully have a better understanding of what they can do with a sociology degree, and will inspire its students to use their community through various services. Public Relations Students Society of America (PRSSA)

PRSSA is an organization for students interested in the field of public relations that promotes an active involvement in a student's undergraduate career by providing members with internship opportunities, access to local professionals and the chance to participate in public relations on a national level. Society of Professional Journalists

Open to all journalists. The oldest, largest, and most inclusive national organization. Fosters responsible journalism, supports press freedom, and encourages students via scholarships, networking, and internship opportunities. Benefits also include the monthly journal, national and regional conventions, professional development workshops, and other activities in conjunction with the New Orleans Press Club. Kappa Tau Alpha

Kappa Tau Alpha is a national college honor society that promotes academic excellence and recognizes scholarship in journalism and mass communication. The Greek letters mean "the truth will prevail". The letters also point to three English words --- knowledge, truth, and accuracy --- which are the foundations of good journalism and mass communication practices. To become a member of Kappa Tau Alpha, a student must rank in the top ten percent of his or her class, must have completed at least five semesters of degree work, must have at least a 3.0 GPA, and must have completed nine credit hours of journalism or mass communication courses. Pi Sigma Alpha

The purpose of Pi Sigma Alpha is to stimulate scholarship and intelligent interest in political science. Pi Sigma Alpha--the national political science honor society--accepts students who have completed at least 12 credit hours in political science with a grade point average of at least 3.0 in political science courses. We also offer the opportunity to become an Associate Member if the student has a 3.0 in political science courses and has completed at least 6 credit hours in political science. Our chapter, Eta Epsilon, has been involved in many activities, including: editing a journal, fund raising, mentoring, socializing, and bringing together students and faculty at year-end receptions.
